ok but where are all the fics where steve never becomes captain america and he continues to live in brooklyn, living day by day and grieving over the fact that bucky never came home from the war. then one day in 1955, steve comes home to his shit apartment after work and finds a man clad in black with a mask on his face and a huge metal arm sitting on his beat up couch and when he turns to look at steve, the first thing that leaves the man’s mouth in an unmistakably familiar voice is “stevie?”
