*screams about Hogwarts AU* I know this looks like it’s from a fic or something but it’s really just me comicing a scene I saw in my head and I needed an outlet. Please know that I believe that HP AU can be done many different ways and sortings and Beauxbatons yes I know, but this is just one idea.

Headmaster Valjean let the houses be more free to mingle but Javert, who’s a Snape/Umbridge type, wants to return to a more strict code of separation now that he’s in charge. And since Enjolras has been rejecting the need for the house system he’s not here for that. (Cue daily oppression and secret meetings in the room of requirement and barricading the school hallways and throwing spells at the ministry guards that Javert calls in to end the student rebellion)

People are going to ask about the choice of housing, so here’s some story babble: Enjolras was sorted as Slytherin when he was young, being that he was from a long line of rich blonde Slytherins and was capable of being terrible. He’s grown up now realizing he doesn’t want to be told he has to be that kind of person, that he has to embody this instead of that, that he has to be any different from his friends, and refuses to wear his tie in protest.

I think Grantaire works well as a Gryffindor, being that he sacrificed himself by Enjolras’s side and there’s no better show of bravery. However, I did have a hard time picking and I can totally agree with people who want to sort differently, all Les Amis could easily be Gryffindors and wear red. I just felt like getting in some representation from all the houses, and I think that Enj is probably the only one of the barricade boys that can fit Slytherin. He could easily be a Gryffindor too, but that’s the point. Why the division, indeed, when you can have all of those traits.

And uh yes! Btw I love HP, this is only Enj’s protest, not mine. So sorry for the long post, be gentle etc. I’m proud of myself for drawing all these different angles, it was a difficult task but I did the thing! I’m going to go ice my hand now.
