“Jus’ be careful, okay?”

“Dean, it’s only some lame poltergeist. And I’ll pick up Dad on my way, remember? I’ll be fine.”

He thinks of the last time Sam said that, thinks of bloody bandages and purple-blue skin for weeks. Swallows his stutters. “Promise?” Dean croaks.

“Promise.”

Later, he will tell himself that it’s been the dimples, those damn fucking dimples. They get him every time but never seemed so far away than right now. It doesn’t take much to have it all taken away, and Dean knows. Knows just too well.

When he leans in to do it, Sam simply watches him. The flutter of eyelashes is too much, so Dean has to close his eyes. Like the guy knows what’s happening. As if he had read Dean hours ago already, heard the insecurity in his jokes while he tried to build up the courage and balls to finally… yeah, to do this here, kind of.

It’s just a small smacking sound, nothing more, one firm and warm touch of lips.

Sam smiles at him when he pulls back.

“What?” The hiss comes out of habit; pure defense. Dean feels the blood rush up his neck and cheeks.

“Nothing,” Sam hums, starts the engine. Dean steps back, his heart punching his ribs as if it wanted to break them. Not that he’d even notice that right now. “We’ll be back tomorrow night, okay?”

Dean nods.

“Stay safe, little brother.”

“You too, bitch.”

Sam laughs. Dean remembers that he always wanted to see if those damn dimples’ hollows create bumps inside of his brother’s mouth and continues playing with the thought when they arch deep in Sam’s face yet again. The Impala takes him away, yet again, with the obligatory “jerk” still in the air between them.

So i’m not really in Supernatural fandom, but my roommate is and I’ve seen the series (except for the most recent few episodes), and I wanted to share a revelation I had.

Some fans have noticed the inconsistency between the episodes “After School Special” (4×13) and “Bad Boys” (9×07).

The flashbacks in the two episodes should only actually be a few months apart.  But in “Bad Boys” Dean is shown to be a fumbling teenager who has his first kiss…

We don’t see him and Sam together, but the glimpse we get of Sam is a little kid playing with a toy plane out the Impala’s window.

In “After Schools Special” Dean is portrayed as a towering badass love ‘em & leave ‘em sex god

And Sam is a realistic highschool freshman.

Anyway… I figured out why this makes PERFECT SENSE!  Because “After School Special” is a Sam-centric episode, and the flashback we get is thus shaped by his POV.  So remembers himself accurately, but remembers Dean as this mature badass.

On the other hand “Bad Boys” is entirely Dean’s POV, so he remembers himself accurately, but remembers Sam as a sweet little kid, even though he should have been pushing into his teens at the time.

So in other words Dylan Everett (2013) and Colin Ford (2008) accurately reflect high school aged Sam and Dean at the same time.  Brock Kelly is just how Sam saw Dean.  And the little kid with the plane is how Dean saw Sam.

How about teen Sam and Dean having sex for the first time while on a camping trip?

It was kind of nice for a change to be out in the wilderness, not chasing/being chased by some monster who was eating campers.  This time they were actually there for the enjoyment of being outdoors, despite their lifestyle of being on the road almost constantly.

This was Dean’s doing, of course.  He promised that he’d make more of an effort to start doing normal things with Sam, to show him that their lives weren’t completely revolved around hunting.

Sam sat on a log, Dean’s big jacket wrapped around his shoulders as he watched his brother bring a few more pieces of wood for the small fire they had going.  He watched as the warm orange glow lit up the other’s face, bringing out his freckles and the lighter shades of brown in his hair as he kept the pile from falling over.  He was beautiful.  His determination to keep Sam happy, to go out of his way to do these things for his little brother made Sam’s heart swell with joy.

“What’s that goofy look for?” Dean asked, wearing a bit of a bashful smile because of the way Sam was gazing at him in a dreamy way.

“You’re really good to me, Dean,” Sam retorted, shifting over a bit on the log in an invitation.  Dean moved to sit beside him, sliding his arm over his shoulders and pressing a kiss to his temple.

“That’s what big brothers are for,” he murmured against his soft locks, smiling to himself afterward before Sam turned his head and gazed up at him.

There was a few moments of quiet as hazel eyes met green ones, the gentle crackle of the fire and far away wildlife filled the silence as the moment grew a little more serious.  Sam leaned in and Dean met him half way, their lips brushing together in a silent admission of love from the both of them.

They must have exchanged soft kisses for 20 minutes or so, up until Sam felt so overwhelmed with love that he could have sworn tears were threatening to well in his eyes.

“Dean..” Sam whispered, his voice a bit shaky.  His brother responded with a soft kiss.  "Please?“

Not another word needed to be spoken before Dean gently touched Sam’s face, sipping at his lips and kissing to his forehead.  He stood and took his brother’s hand, leading him into their tent where they undressed each other and touched with reverent hands, crossing the line they knew they could never go back from, where they never wanted to come back from.
